The Cole Wheeler
Wool Blanket
Cole Wheeler is a men's product brand. They specialize in high-end giftable items ranging from luxury leather goods, knives, outdoor equipment, and much more. I am freelanced to test products, make design updates, and conceptualize new product lines.
This project involved creating a blanket design for Cole Wheeler. The goal was to make a unique, masculine design that fit within the CW product line.
I first began with product research. I looked at similar brands like Filson and Pendleton for inspiration. This also gave me a better perspective on the blanket fabric that should be chosen for this product.
My initial designs took a lot of inspiration from the Filson blanket that was found. These were a great start, but after meeting with my project manager we both agreed they felt too western.
I began to design more abstract patterns. These were still masculine and inspired by the outdoors, but not too obvious in its approach.
These are my final three designs that were given as options for my project manager to choose from. We decided on the design to the right.
Above is the factory sample. We went with a wool/cotton blend for the best softness/weight. Some adjustments were made based on the factory sewing capabilities. The team and I were very happy with the end results. This project came to become one of my favorites!
